Grade 8 - Melted Artwork
Updated: Jul 1, 2022
What happens when science and art collide? Melted crayon art! In this Studio project, Mrs. Pruss’s 8th grade science class dove deep into the principles of thermal energy transfer as they explored the outcomes of applying heat to crayons on canvas board. In addition, we challenged them to include a representation of a personally meaningful area of science in their design. And of course, because science truly surrounds us, the possibilities were endless! Students made some bold and well-planned designs, and the addition of the melted wax created dramatic and sometimes unexpected results! The ability to apply an understanding of design to the process of energy transfer was a focal area for this project. The students did an impressive job!
