The 2nd grade classes applied their creativity and quick design thinking skills to make some very cute and clever crickets. After reading the book, Teacher’s Pet’s by Dayle Ann Dodds, the students got to make their own pet cricket like the one given to Miss Fry in the story. They had 5 minutes to sketch and 20 minutes to build a cricket with correct body parts from an assortment of fun building materials. The students rose to the challenge, and each came up with a creative and cool cricket! This Studio project was a fun way to integrate a little hands on language arts and science into the school day.
